Cameroon

Africa in miniature, and our home

Cameroon is often called Africa in miniature, and it earns the name: rainforest, volcanic coast, high mountains and dry northern plains all sit within one country. It is also home for us, and with the Cameroon e-visa now applied for online before travel, it has never been simpler for family, colleagues and business partners to come and see it for themselves.

What to see in Cameroon

The Lobé Falls at Kribi
01

The Lobé Falls at Kribi

One of the very few places on earth where a river drops straight into the sea. The falls sit just south of Kribi on the Atlantic coast, framed by forest and a long sweep of pale sand, and are an easy day out from the town.

Mount Cameroon
02

Mount Cameroon

The highest peak in West and Central Africa and an active volcano, rising almost from the shoreline behind Buea. The climb is a demanding two to three days through rainforest and open lava fields, with guides arranged locally.

Limbe and the black-sand coast
03

Limbe and the black-sand coast

Volcanic beaches of dark sand run along the coast at Limbe, backed by green hills and the botanic garden. It is the easiest stretch of coastline to reach from Douala for a weekend by the water.

Rhumsiki and the Mandara Mountains
04

Rhumsiki and the Mandara Mountains

In the Far North, volcanic plugs rise like towers out of the plain around Rhumsiki, some of the most striking scenery anywhere in the country. The light just after sunrise, before the haze builds, is when it looks its best.

The beaches of Kribi

The beaches of Kribi

Beyond the falls, Kribi itself is the country's favourite seaside town: clean sand, grilled fish straight off the boats, and warm Atlantic water. It fills up with local visitors at weekends and over the December holidays.
