The Great Sphinx
Carved from a single outcrop of limestone on the Giza plateau, and considerably larger in person than photographs suggest. It sits directly below the causeway of the pyramid of Khafre.

Islamic Cairo
The medieval city, with the Sultan Hassan and Al-Rifa'i mosques facing one another beneath the Citadel. Much less visited than Giza, and the more atmospheric half of Cairo.
